Winwood-Clapton collaboration earns Grammy nomination
Former Blind Faith band mates Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton have earned two Grammy nominations for their 2009 live album release entitled Live at Madison Square Garden.
Nominations were received for Best Rock Album and for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group for “Can’t Find My Way Home.” The fellow nominees in these categories represent some of mainstream rock’s biggest stars including U2, Green Day, Kings of Leon,Coldplay, and the Dave Matthews Band.
The 2-disc DVD set captures the New York City reunion performance, a sold-out three-night gig, by these legends of rock, who followed up the show with another tour this past spring. The second disc features an exclusive documentary with new interviews from Clapton and Winwood, rare footage and photos of Cream, Traffic and Blind Faith, and backstage behind-the-scenes scenes.
Plans are already in the works for a European outing in the summer of 2010, where Winwood and Clapton are expected to also hit the busy festival circuit on the old continent and in the U.K.
The 52nd Grammy Awards airs on January 31, 2010, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, on CBS at 8pm (EST).
